KEEP IT IN THE CULTURE CO-OP CELEBRATES MOTHER’S DAY AND OFFICIAL RIBBON CUTTING WITH A UNIQUE ‘QUEENS OF THE NATION’ CULTURAL GATHERING
[NEW ORLEANS, MAY 10]—As Mother’s Day approaches, Keep It In The Culture (KIITC) proudly announces its official ribbon cutting and Mother’s Day Gathering, “Queens of the Nation.”
This event, scheduled for May 11, 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM, is a testament to the resilience, strength, and nurturing spirit of mothers in New Orleans. It’s also a chance for New Orleanians to learn about Keep It In the Culture. This worker-owned cooperative supports the culture-bearer community of New Orleans with affordable craft and costume materials and mutual aid.
“We are excited to officially launch our store and honor the influence of mothers and Mardi Gras Indian queens in New Orleans,’ said Nick Holmes, Keep It In The Culture Cooperative co-owner. ‘This event shows our commitment to preserving our rich heritage and will serve as a reminder that when you support us, your money goes back into the community, unlike big box stores that have profited from our culture for years without giving back.”
Guests can look forward to:
- Words from Keep It In The Culture Cooperative
- Pictures with Mardi Gras Indians
- Jamfest with anyone who wants to join in or spectate
Keep It In The Culture invites individuals of all ages and backgrounds to come together to celebrate culture, community, and the profound influence of mothers. Whether you’re a seasoned enthusiast or new to the traditions of the Mardi Gras Indians, you are invited to join the celebration.
Join us on May 11, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, at 3400 S. Claiborne Ave as we honor Mother’s Day and the official ribbon cutting of KIITC. All are welcome to partake in this celebration of heritage and kinship.
